GENERAL ORDER NO. 4817 dated 19 May 1970
"For gallantry in action against an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Captain Lisowski distinguished himself by intrepid actions on 5 May 1970 while serving as Commanding Officer of Company B, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry. On that date, an element of the company was conducting a combat patrol in the vicinity of Vinh Hien when a well concealed enemy booby trap was inadvertently triggered. As the explosive device detonated, the friendly unit sustained a severe casualty. Fully aware of the possibility of further enemy booby traps, Captain Lisowski immediately moved toward his wounded comrade's position to begin administering first aid. While manuevering to the fallen soldier's position, Captain Lisowski spotted a second well concealed booby trap in a nearby hedgerow and quickly destroyed it with a well directed hand grenade. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Captain Lisowski continued to move through the heavily mined area to aid his fallen comrade until he was severely wounded by the detonation of another explosive device. Through his timely and courageous actions, Captain Lisowski contributed significantly towards saving the life of his comrade and served as an inspiration to his entire unit. Captain Lisowski's personal heroism, professional competence, and devotion to duty are in keeeping with the highest traditions of the military service, and reflect great credit upon himself, the Americal Division, and the United States Army."

The Silver Star was given posthumously to CPT Lisowski's widow, Joyce, on 23 September 1971 by Major General Verne l. Bowers. Captain Lisowski had twin boys, Matt and Michael, who attended West Point and are now on active duty. Lt.
